Thoughts on Kettlebells





Ok lets set one thing straight to begin with. Kettlebells aren't new! These bad boys have been around for a long, long time helping people build killer strength, hot bodies, and lets face it........they just make you look damn cool when using them!

So whats all the rage about them lately? A few celebrities use them (anybody seen 300???), and next thing you know they are the greatest thing since the thigh master.

Well here are a few brief thoughts about kettlebells. Kettlebells are a fun dynamic way to build functional strength and muscle. (what is functional strength and muscle you ask? Well to keep it simple, it's good for things you do outside of the gym!) Not to mention even a 20 min kettlebell workout is going to burn a tremendous amount of calories during the workout, and your body will continue to burn long after you have completed the last round.

But whats so great about a iron bell with a handle? Why not just use dumbbells or med balls. The unique shape of the bell allows you to perform exercise that are somewhat awkward to do with dumbbells or bar bells, and good luck finding a 60lb med ball with a handle.

Because of the shape, kettlebells can be used to perform explosive type moves in a safe and controlled manner. Give them a try sometime, they are a hell of alot of fun!

Anyone ever wonder why Russians are so damn tough..........?? Just a thought.

There is so much more two kettlebells that I can explain on this weak, pathetic blog page. You have to experience them to fully understand the joys, and discomforts of them! DO IT!

Below are two simple kettlebell workouts.

WORKOUT 1

10 kettlebell swings:1 burpee
10 Kettlebell swings:2 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:3 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:4 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:5 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:6 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:7 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:8 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:9 burpees
10 Kettlebell swings:10 burpees

Time yourself. Rest half the amount of time it took you to complete the round and do it again, and again, and again..........good look getting more than two rounds in! (Imagine the sound of my evil laughter! hahahahaha)

WORKOUT 2

36 alternating kettlebell swings
24 alternating kettlebell clean and press
Bear crawls with kettlebells (25 yards)

Repeat 3 times
